Barn Notes #7

The Northern Fling Stakes

Imply, owned by Barlar LLC,wore down the pacesetter Great Soul in the deep stretch to score her 2nd career Stakes win, all here at Presque Isle.

The Bernie Houghton trained Imply (E-DubaiAllude by Orientate) ran into contention three wide on the far turn, drew clear after catching Great Soul inside the 1/16 pole.  Imply finished almost 2 lengths in front of Great Soul, who hung on for second.  The fast closing Lucabunny got up for the show.  Running time for the mile was a good 1:37 flat!

Tom’s Ready doesn’t disappoint in The Leematt Stakes

Heavy backed Tom’s Ready made a powerful far turn run to go on and win this year’s Leematt Stakes.  The Gayle & Tom Benson’s Tom’s Ready went off just 40 cents to the dollar in winning his 3rd Stakes.

Disappointed by his Trainer Dallas Stewart in his last start (Grade I Met Mile) Dallas used this year’s Leematt as a confidence builder for the talented 4 year old colt (More Than ReadyGoodbye Stranger by Broad Brush).  However his victory didn’t go without a hitch as he lost his focus in mid-stretch as he began to lug in and look around at the starting gate.  Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. had to get busy with Tom as Elkestone’s Edge of Reality was closing fast.  Tom showed his class and took off and prevailed by a head over Edge of Reality.  Entry mate Duff finished 3rd.  Winning time for the Leematt was 137:1.

We are accepting nominations for the $100,000 Malvern RoseStakes for Registered PA Bred Fillies, 3 years old; going 1 mile. CLOSING DATE WEDNESDAY, JULY 26, 2017.  RACE TO BE RUN SUNDAY, AUGUST 6, 2017.
