$199,886.50 Bad Beat Jackpot Won At Presque Isle Downs & Casino

Erie, PA, November 9, 2013 — A losing hand in Presque Isle Downs & Casino’s poker room caused one “lucky” player to walk away with $99,943.26 from “losing”. The Bad Beat Jackpot at Presque Isle Downs & Casino was won by James of Saegertown, Pennsylvania.  The bad beat jackpot occurs when a sufficiently strong hand is shown down and loses to an even stronger hand held by another player. At Presque Isle Downs & Casino the qualifier is Aces full of Kings (player must have pocket Aces).

This is the fourth Bad Beat Jackpot won since opening their poker room in October of 2011.

Joseph of Conneaut, Ohio won $49,971.64 for his “winning hand”. The remaining share was split among six players each winning $6,246. Jack of Petrolia, PA; Karen of Meadville, PA; Jerome II of Madison, OH; Donald of Erie, PA; Peter of Erie PA; Reginald of Cleveland, OH; Norman of Mentor, OH; and Joanne of Waterloo, Ontario Canada all shared in the $49,971 remaining.

The casino started the Bad Beat Jackpot to create more excitement around the game. And that strategy seems to be paying off in spades.

“The Bad Beat Jackpot was created to enhance the customer experience by providing an additional opportunity for the players to win,” said Mike Tamburelli, Presque Isle Downs & Casino VP and General Manager.  “It is the second largest jackpot our poker room has seen since we opened and we’re glad to see ten very lucky players walk out with their share of over $199,000.”

The last bad beat jackpot was awarded in October 2012 when Justin of Grove City, PA won $139,271 and Edward of Erie, PA won $69,635. Eight other players won $8,704 each as part of the table share.

New Buffet Opens at Presque Isle Downs & Casino

Erie, PA — Officials at Presque Isle Downs & Casino announced today the newly renovated Backstretch Buffet is open.

Renovations began during the last week of June which completely transformed the buffet from a cafeteria-styled buffet to a more lavish made to order buffet. The $450,000 project provides guests with an array of choices from the new Mongolian-Style Grill, Grilled meats, and a new pizza oven. The action stations allow the guests to receive their meals freshly made.

A soft opening was held last Wednesday for employees and players to provide feedback while the finishing touches were put into place.

“One of the biggest concerns that our players had was the variety and value of our buffet. The feedback we have received during our soft opening has been overwhelmingly positive and we will continue to make adjustments to provide the best buffet dining experience in our region,” stated Mike Tamburelli, Vice President and General Manager of Presque Isle Downs & Casino.

The buffet is open daily at 11am for lunch; 4:45pm for dinner. A Surf & Turf option for an additional $3.95 will be available on Friday nights beginning August 2nd and a Champagne Sunday Brunch for $16.95 will begin on Sunday, August 4th which will feature a made-to-order omelet station and fresh waffles.

“People will be pleasantly surprised by the overall ambiance and food variety since the renovation. Our goal is to keep our customers happy and continue to provide quality service. The new buffet will definitely exceed their expectations,” stated Tamburelli.
