Erie, PA – We told our readers to stay tuned for the return engagement on stage at Presque Ilse Downs (PID) of Amy Farah Fowler, the lustrous 2-year old Pennsylvania-bred filly who indeed knows how to put on a show.  Named for a character in the wildly successful and popular TV sit-com “Big Bang Theory”, our Amy did not disappoint her fans when put in front of the camera again Thursday night, July 5.

Although led from her barn by two handlers, Amy soon showed her spicy, spirited side once more when she reared and got loose in the paddock area.  Our able Paddock Judge, aware of Amy’s saucy attitude from her first lifetime start here on May 21, quickly restored order, and directed rider Huber Villa-Gomez to mount up.

From this point on, however, Amy Farah Fowler was all business, fussing just slightly as she was led into the starting gate.  Amy’s competition this night was a field of four other 2-year old fillies, three of whom were, like Amy, winners in their prior starts.  The wagering public, aware of her budding star status, were expecting more of the same from Amy as she had shown in her premier run, and sent her off at the prohibitive odds of 1 to 5.

Amy broke sharply on the outside, stalking two inside horses until mid-turn in this 5 ½ furlong dash.  Jockey Villa-Gomez urged his bubbly bay filly smartly into the lead around the turn into the stretch. She promptly gained control nearly two furlongs out and drew off to an easy, impressive 8-length victory.  Those who were trackside at PID and fans at simulcast outlets nationwide were treated with and rewarded by her stellar, scintillating performance.

Trainer Ron Potts was thankful that his patience with Amy Farah Fowler has paid off, to a great degree, from her first start.  He still may have some fine tuning to achieve even more success for his fiery, fussy filly.  Will Potts move to other venues to showcase his scrappy starlet?  Do stakes races at Saratoga or Woodbine loom in the future for our contentious cutie?  Will Potts also consider a reunion encore performance at PID in October for the $100,000 Paxson Stakes for 2-year old fillies? Stay tuned, race fans!!  We’ll continue to follow the stars of the 2018 Presque Isle Downs race meet!!
